Congratulations to EF Student Assistant, Adam Soper, and his teammates, for winning the Most Creative Project Award and the People’s Choice Poster Award for their Craft Beer Production Senior Design Project at this year’s Senior Design Showcase. All students are members of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The project was based on the observation of the beer making process and the development of a mass balance for dissolved oxygen and yeast in different sections of the system.
The inaugural Tickle College of Engineering Senior Design Showcase took place on April 25, 2019, in Thompson-Boling Arena. There were more than 500 students, 100 project advisors, 130 project teams that conducted 125,000 hours of project work.
Senior design—also known as capstone design—is the final educational element that ties to together all the engineering, science, and humanities learnings as our students transition to the next phase of their lives. This event is an opportunity for our students, faculty, sponsors, and guests to come together to celebrate the completion of the open-ended projects our students have worked on during the past two semesters.
