    Biography

    Mary Kocak is a Distinguished Lecturer in the Engineering Fundamentals Program at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina.

    She started her engineering career in the field of manufacturing before advancing to an international consulting firm. She later transitioned into academia, holding faculty positions at both the university and community college levels. Mary’s research experiences include thermal contact conductance of materials at high temperatures, landfill gas as an alternative fuel for industrial boilers, optional energy methods for the desalination of salt water, and advanced manufacturing and prototyping.

    Mary has collaborated with diverse, interdisciplinary teams and is passionate about preparing the next generations of engineers by teaching the fundamentals principles of the discipline.
